SEMICON India 2026: the chip-industry agenda to watch in New Delhi

SEMICON India is scheduled for September 17–19 at Yashobhoomi. Its programme puts manufacturing, packaging, chip design and workforce development in the same conversation.

SEMICON India 2026 is scheduled for September 17–19 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, bringing semiconductor manufacturing, chip design and the industries supporting them into one programme. The fifth edition is organised jointly by the India Semiconductor Mission and SEMI, according to the Ministry of Electronics and IT's event announcement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the event on September 17.

The agenda goes beyond building factories

The theme, “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem”, is reflected in the organiser's draft agenda. Thursday's sessions cover manufacturing, advanced packaging, equipment research and the use of AI in industry. Friday moves through supply chains, research and development, international collaboration and the journey from a design concept to a chip.

Saturday's programme includes workforce development, sustainability and a startup session, with a hackathon-results presentation listed for the closing ceremony. Read together, these tracks show why the event matters to people outside fabrication plants: an electronics industry also needs designers, equipment suppliers, materials specialists and trained workers.

A policy conversation before the exhibition

On September 16, Modi chaired a meeting with semiconductor-company leaders at Seva Teerth. The Prime Minister's Office account says the discussion covered industry participation in skills and innovation, as well as suggestions on policy and administration. It lists representatives from companies including Micron, ASML, Applied Materials, Tata Electronics and Intel.

How to follow the next three days

For students, suppliers and readers following India's chip sector, the useful details will be specific training initiatives, technical collaborations and clearly identified projects. The organiser labels its timetable a draft, so anyone planning a visit should check the current programme and registration information.
